BOWLING PIN TOURNAMENT

2nd and 4th Monday of the month. 6:30pm. First shots at 7pm. $13 per person
This is a handgun match that is a great way for those new to shooting competition to get started and for those with a lot of experience to show it off in a tough competition. We have adapted a “Shoot & Move” bowling pin Challenge. The match consists of bowling pins set on different tables and stands. The distances to the pins vary with several different possible courses but the average distance is about 10 yards.  Each set of pins is shot once and this is considered a “String”. There are usually three Strings depending on time available. Your times are recorded and added together for a total time. The lowest time wins!

What to Expect…

Range Commands

The range officer (RO) will give a series of commands: Make Ready, Are You Ready?, Standby, Beep(timer start), If You are Finished Unload and Show Clear, If Clear Hammer Down and Holster, Range is Clear
You will take your position in the starting area and wait for the command from the RO to “Make Ready”. Upon the Make Ready signal you may load your firearm and assume the start position. The start position is the “low ready” position. Then the RO will ask “Are You Ready?” If so, Then you will hear “Standby” and after a 1-4 second pause the timer will beep signaling the start of the timer.  Upon the start signal(beep) you may engage targets. When you are finished shooting the stage the RO will ask “If You are Finished Unload and Show Clear” at this time you should unload your firearm and show the RO the empty chamber or cylinder. He will then ask “If Clear, Hammer Down and Holster.” At this time, while pointed in a safe direction, you should pull the trigger and holster your firearm. The RO will then call “Range is Clear” at this time competitors may move downrange to reset pins.

Stop – Stop means stop. Just freeze and await further instruction from the RO

Finger – your finger is inside trigger guard while moving or while not engaging targets.

Muzzle – keep your muzzle pointed down range, beware of your 180

Rules

The Pin match is a COLD RANGE match. This means no loaded firearms. You will load and make ready under the supervision of the range officer before each string.

180 Rule – The muzzle of your gun must not break the 180 degree line. Keep the muzzle pointed down range at all times.

Your finger must remain outside the trigger guard until you are engaging targets.

What you need…

You will need a firearm, holster, ammo, extra magazines and or speed loaders. Eye and Ear protection is mandatory, and you may want to have head cover and a long sleeve shirt as targets tend to fragment the bullet at impact and may cause incidental shrapnel to come back on the shooter. Firearms and eye/ear protection can be purchased or rented on sight. Holsters and Mag Holsters and Ammunition can be purchased at the range.

Please show up at least 15 minutes early if you are a first time shooter for the shooters briefing.
