Youth Firearms Safety Camp

June 19th / 20th / 21st from 10am to 2pm

July 17th / 18th / 19th from 10am to 2pm

Big Woods Goods now offers a Firearms Safety Certification Course for youth who are 12-17 years of age.  This course will be taught by competent, certified and experienced instructor who has children of his own.

Every youngster should know the basics of firearm safety, what to do if they find a firearm, and be familiar with what a firearm can do.  Our Firearms Safety Certification Course will provide training and experience with revolvers, semi-automatic handguns and .22 rifles.

When a child is involved in a firearms accident it is often attributed to lack of knowledge and training in firearms safety.  Parents play the most important role in teaching their children firearms safety.  Isolated lessons and concepts can be quickly forgotten.  Repetition will help children remember standard safety procedures, so we are offering this course to reinforce your instruction at home. The class has a three day schedule, each day will be from 10am to 2pm. Parent or Guardian must be present from 12:15 pm to 2pm all three days for the range portion of the class.

• General Firearms Safety
• Operation of Revolvers, Semi-automatic Handguns and Rifles
• Ammunition types and components
• Safe storage of firearms
• Cleaning and maintenance
• Shooting Fundamentals
• Shooting sports and competitions

 What happens in the classes? 

• The Firearm Safety Certification Course consists of a minimum of 12 hours of classroom and range experience in the safe handling of firearms and shooter responsibility. There will be classroom and range time each day of the 3 day camp. Class size is limited to 12 students.
• The range experience allows students a hands-on experience to reinforce the safety procedures and shooting techniques taught in the classroom portion of the course.

What’s included with the class?

• Firearm rentals both long gun and handgun are included.
• Students are encouraged to bring their own firearm as well, but are limited to 22LR.
• Eye and Hearing protection will be available for those who do not have their own.
• Targets will be provided for every drill and exercise.
• Certificate upon completion of the course.
• All ammunition will be provided. Students will be expected to shoot about 100 rds per day.

 What’s required by every student? 

• Eye and Hearing protection (Protection will be provided if students don’t have their own).
• Students most bring a lunch daily.
• Legal Guardian must be present for range portion of camp. Guardian must be present at 12:15pm.
